Foundational course in Panchakarma
Overview
The course will cover the basic fundamental principles and philosophy of Ayurveda, basic and detailed anatomy and physiology both from the perspectives of Ayurveda and structural anatomy, the concept of Marma and Marma Therapy in detail, clinical significance and importance of Marma Therapy, Various Marma techniques pressure points for quick pain relief, emergency management in Marma injuries, organ related Marma points, herbs and oils used for Marma therapy. It also covers the concept of Marma Therapy in sports medicine and in surgical as well as accidental injuries, Introduction to kalari marma, its type and applications, introduction to scope of Marma Therapy in other allied sciences. The candidate will be assessed through in-course continuous assessment and a final examination. Successful candidates will be awarded a certificate.
Target Group:
- BAMS and higher or equivalent medical/biological sciences qualification (for overseas students), a written examination and/or interview will be conducted, if required.

After successful completion of this course, student will be able to:
Knowledge
1. Explain history and evolution of marma therapy.
2. Explain locations of all marma points i.e. vital points in the body.
3. Describe the relevance of marma therapy in various nervous disorders and musculoskeletal diseases.
4. Describe the role of marma therapy in sports medicine.
5. Explain the concepts of marma points and its pidan or massage in the disease management.
6. Introduction to Keraleeya Kalari Marma.
7. Describe the Marma therapies in other allied sciences.
Skills
- Analyze the concept of prana present in the marma points.
- Demonstrate various skills included in the therapy along with pressure points, pidan points.
- Work in collaboration with medical health professionals.
Attitude
- Promote the people to use marma therapy in day-to-day pain relief.
- Apply principles of marma therapy in cure of rare diseases like Parkinson’s disease, paralysis etc
- Educate and motivate peoples to join further proficiency and high proficiency courses in future
