Ayurveda views an individual as a whole, rather than as a sum of parts or organ systems. Hence, it approaches diseases as something that affects the whole body and mind, and plans the management of diseases from this perspective. Ayurveda doctor are trained to diagnose the disease using its principles rather than solely relying on investigation reports and putting efforts to manage symptoms temporarily. They identify the causes of the disease based on its own epistemology and plan a suitable management that gives relief to the patient, cures the disease and takes measures to avoid relapse. This may include medicines, therapeutic procedures, diet and lifestyle changes, and its combination that is suitable for the patient. This holistic approach to diseases and health, and viewing the individual as a whole is what makes Ayurveda effective.
